Eddrachillis and Scourie
Originally a stronghold of the Clan Mackay,
the crofting village of Scourie lies at the centre of the parish of
Eddrachillis in North West Sutherland, an
ideal base from which to explore the surrounding
countryside.
The community was based around crofting and fishing,
both still evident today. Good connections to
Inverness and the East Coast, the area is accessible yet still remote and
rugged, beautiful and unspoilt.
Nature and wildlife are all around - how many places can boast
palm trees, red and black throated divers, deer, eagles and highland
cattle, all found with a backdrop of the Atlantic and iconic mountains.
Nestled within the North West Highland Geopark, an area recognised for
significant geological features along with outstanding archaeological, ecological and cultural value.
At the visitor centres at Knockan Crag and Unapool, you can learn about the geology and look around you at iconic peaks such as
Foinaven, Arkle, Ben Stack, Quinag, Suilven, Canisp & Ben More Assynt.
Walking, climbing and exploring are all on our doorstep. Boat tours from Scourie and Kylesku offer the opportunity to see the coast and wildlife.
Loch fishing can be arranged and walk down the garden path to the Eddrachilles Hotel for excellent food, drink and views.
Whatever you are looking for, Eddrachillis Cottages offer the perfect getaway and the chance to escape modern life - but in comfort.
